Are You on the Right Path?

Am I on the right path?  I hear variations of this question a lot.  It is a hard one for me to answer.  Truth is, only you can determine what the right path for you is.  Your spiritual path is a deeply personal thing and it will look different for everyone.  I do not believe we can ever really be on the wrong path.  Wherever we find ourselves is where we are meant to be.  If it is not exactly “right” it is usually a learning experience that helps us get there or a little detour that may not look the way we expected but will take us just where we need to be.  However, there are a few things you can look for to help you determine if you may need to make any course corrections.

How do you feel physically?  Our bodies have so much to tell us if we will take the time to listen.  Think about the path you are taking and the check in with your body.  Do you feel good and energized when you think about your path?  Do you feel any tension or pain?  How do you feel in your gut?  Sometimes our body gives us the earliest clues as to whether we are in alignment with our highest good.  When we are not following the path that is right for us, we will often feel ill.  If we continue without making changes the illness will often progress, getting worse and worse in an attempt to get our attention enough to get us to change our ways.

Check in with your heart.  Does the path you are taking spark a fire in your heart?  Do you feel passionately about it?  Does it allow you to express love for others and increase your feelings of self-love?  Trust in your heart.  If you do not feel any passion about the path you are on, you probably need to make adjustments.  If the path you are taking makes you feel like your heart is glowing, you are just where you need to be.

Ask your higher self.  When you are in alignment with your higher self, you will feel joy.  Sit quietly and take a few deep breaths.  Ask your higher self if the actions you are taking are the right ones.  Listen with your emotions to hear the answer.  If the feeling is joyous, you know you are doing the right things.  If you feel lower vibration emotions such as fear or anxiety, you may need to rethink the actions you are taking.  Our emotions are a direct communication system with our higher selves.  The better the emotion, the more in alignment we are.

If you are struggling to determine if the path you are taking is right for you, look to your body, heart, and higher self for the answer.  Trust yourself and your intuition and try to go where the flow takes you.  Remember that you cannot really mess this up.  Everything we go through, every decision we make, contributes to getting us where we need to be.  If something does not feel right, simply determine what changes you need to make and begin working on them.  You will end up in just the right place.
